Ashley mangels

Home town: Jamesport

Ashley grew up on the North Fork of Long Island but has been surfing from Montauk to Manhattan throughout his life. He usually spends his winters in California coaching the Mammoth Mountain Snowboard Team and then returns to MbX in the spring to get ready for camp and to train our new competitive MBX Team. Ashley travels often and loves cold water surfing. He has surfed the entire East coast, all of the West coast, Hawaii, Mexico, Alaska, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, British Columbia and is looking forward to his next European coast surf trip.

Elias Van Sickle

Home town: East Hampton

Elias is a recent East Hampton High graduate who has spent the past year traveling the world surfing, rock climbing, and training for life saving certifications. Elias is also a very talented kite surfer and coach.

Dave Holden

Home town: Wainscott

Dave is true East End native. He knows the beach breaks of the hamptons like the back of his hand. Dave is currently pursuing a business management degree from St Joseph's College.

Lead Coach-Blue team (intermediate surfers)

Scott Holmes

Home town: Wainscott

If your trying to get barreled Scott is the guy to help you figure out the fickle East End surf. Scott has deep roots that run from the Georgica area of East Hampton and knows its beaches very well.

Dane Riva

Home town: Sag Harbor

Ask dane about any bird in the sky and he'll probably know its species. Dane will be graduating this spring with a degree in Wild Life science . His wild life know how and love for surfing adds a great dynamic to the MBX program. He has been surfing for 8 years and is loved by all the children.

Kevin Sperando

Home town:

Kevin is currently a student at Stony Brook University. In the past few years Kevin has traveled to Australia, Hawaii, Mexico, Costa Rica and Puerto Rico to surf. He is excited to bring a high level of surf education to MBX.

James Mc Mahone

Home town: Sag Harbor 

James has traveled to Panama, Costa Rica, Brazil, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Mexico, Spain, France, Portugal, Morocco, Australia, Indonesia, Thailand, and various islands in the Caribbean. James is a extremely talented surfer with the rare benefit of knowing how the sport should be taught as well. James has run the surf camps for the Ross School and for Flying Point Surf School for the past 6 years. He is CPR certified, a Padi Divemaster, and a certified sailing crewman. He is very into healthy living, nutrition, and wellness.

Nico Mc Mahone

Home town: Sag Harbor 

Nico is an avid surfer and waterman, who enjoys fitness, health, art, and the over all well being of others. He is going into his senior year of college in San Diego, California studying to be a physicians assistant. He strives to do his best in all that he does whether it be in academics, athletics, or giving lessons.

Jack Wheatly

Home town: Bridgehampton 

 Jack worked as an ocean lifeguard at the Bridgehampton club for 4 years (2009 - 2012).  He also skim boards, paddle boards, bodysurfs, boogie boards and kite boards. He is also certified in CPR and first aid.
